The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia

I got a call to work on this record from a producer named Snuff Garret. He was a producer and music publisher that made many hits. I had never worked with him before, so this was a good opportunity to work with a new client. We had our creative meeting and he played me the demo of the song. When I listened to it I liked it instantly. It had a great “hook” chorus and a good country feel to it as well.

The session came out great. Vicki Lawrence did a wonderful job on the vocal. The record was a big hit for her. I found her to be delightful. As a comedic actress I had been a fan of hers for years. She really is funny and talented.
