Nice site! I intend to bookmark it and visit it often so that I can learn more about your incredible career. Just from your site’s intro page, I learned that you were involved with one of my favorites, “Sally Go ‘Round the Roses.” I can’t wait to see what I discover next about you! Keep up the great work. |

Hi, I just wanted to say that this site is great. I am a fan, and a particular favorite of mine is Sally Go ‘Round the Roses. I think my Mother may have been one of the voices on that record, or at least one of it’s initial recordings. She was about 15, from Hunts Point in the Bronx, and her name is Jane. She didn’t get any credit either, but she is sure that her vocals were used. She even told me a story about the group going to be an opening act for Smokey Robinson, but all plans were cancelled due to some conflict. I’m not too sure what it was… Anyway, cool site, just thought I’d sign the book! |

Hello Mr. Butler, Please allow me to introduce myself to you. I am a professor of music in Barcelona. I went to school in the States, and lived there for several years after graduating. I made my living playing and teaching music. I have been a musician all of my life like you have. How amazing it was to find your great site. Please allow me to tell you that you were one of the people that I looked up to and respected all through my career as a young student and musician. What you have contributed to American pop music and recording is really quite significant. I first became aware of you as a very bluesy organ player on some very early John Hammond albums. Through the years I kept seeing your name on many great projects. Your work with Paul Revere & The Raiders, Janis Ian and so many other groups in the 60’s and 70’s is really an important part of that era of music. “Sally Go ‘Round The Roses” is one of my all time favorite records. How unique it sounded. I also really liked your work with Neil Sedaka. It was very sensitive orchestra writing indeed. Then of course your amazing piano playing on “Feelin’ Alright” by Joe Cocker is in a place all it’s own. A few years ago I became drawn to this song that I kept hearing on the radio. It was called “Here’s To Life” by Shirley Horn. That song is about as emotional as music gets. I remember when I purchased it and saw that it was your song, I was so very impressed. I find myself going to that song in times of need for comfort. I use it as an example to my students to show the very deep connection and power of music. What a contribution you have made in many styles of music all these years. All I can say is please continue. As a fellow musician, I applaud and respect you. I am sure you have much more inside you. You are a talent, and you are also an inspiration to the new crop of people who have been given the gift of music. With respect and gratitude. William Tijeros, Barcelona |

Hi Artie, I have admired your talent and work for years. I am a frustrated musician, but a lawyer by trade. I now live in Paris working for a large entertainment law firm that has an office here. I really admire the many facets of your musicality. Your vast musical credits cover just about all of my life on this earth. I envy you because you have had the career I would have loved to have had. However .. you had the talent which I did not. I actually take my hat off to you. You have done it all. How great. I thank you for your most wonderful and very special contribution to pop music. Some of the artists you have worked with were lucky to have had the association with you that they did. Please keep on doing what you do. By the way, “Here’s To Life” says it all for me. WOW. Thanks from a huge fan. |

Hello Artie,I have been a huge music fan and very serious record collector all of my life. I am aware of so many of your musical accomplishments over the years. Please let me say what a fan I am of yours. I am really a heavy duty record collector and a police officer. That is the way I describe myself. I was a musician as a kid and had all of the dreams of being a pro, but sadly I never had the talent or the drive to pursue it. I’m sure that you have heard this many times. However the love for it has never gone away. A year ago I lost a very close friend to cancer. Sadly he was only fifty two years old. A few weeks or so before he died, I heard this song “Here’s To Life” on the radio by Shirley Horn. I called the station to find out the title and I went out and bought it. Please allow me a minute or so to tell you how your song affected me and my life as well. It helped me get through a very difficult period dealing with my friends death. It has been a tower of strength for me. When I feel the need to get in touch with life and the important elements of it, I listen to your song. How lucky for you that you have the kind of talent to be able to write a song of such quality and emotion. How lucky for the rest of us that you did. I have shared your song with many of my friends and fellow officers. Everyone feels the same way about it as I do. While looking at your website I read that you said you wrote the song for your father as he was getting older. What a beautiful thing and an honor for him. We play your song at police funerals and it really helps everyone cope with the loss of a friend or fellow officer. Thanks Artie for the gift you have given those of us who know what life and the beauty of music is all about. God bless you and yours.Ron Shlague |

We may have never met, but you are partially responsible for the musical soundtracks of my 45 years on this planet, just by glancing at the many hits you’ve been a part of over the years. Loved your charts on Tony Danza’s recent CD!!Artie, your “Here’s to Life” is one of the most heart-wrenching songs I have heard in the past decade, thanks to the heartfelt renditions by Shirley Horn and the late, great Joe Williams (I enjoyed reading your stories about him because he is one of my favorite singers from the jazz world).Sorry that I have little time to say more, but your web site is great! Best of luck with your future projects…your music is wonderful!!! |

Yea, I guess those ambitious projects back in the 60’s,like THE MOODY BLUES “DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED” and the BEACH BOYS “PET SOUNDS” and some of the PROCOL HARUM lp’s were pretty nice. But Artie’s arrangements on the WICHITA FALL’S project,”LIFE IS BUT A DREAM” still finishes first , as far as I and all my Philly musician friends are concerned.—–ARTIE RULES !! |

I just visited your website and it was a beautiful stroll down a wonderful memory lane, some distant memories and some not so long ago. Your talent is fantastic and I am glad you are continuing to use it to bring us music for our souls. Also, I want to tell you how great it was to speak to you on the phone a few weeks ago when you were with my son Jeffrey Weaver at the Friar’s Club. Thank you for the kind words you had to say about him! My highest compliments and best wishes to you! |

Artie, just want to congratulate you on your extraordinary body of work. I first learned of your work through my love for the music of Barry Manilow and your new Tony Danza CD. I was amazed to find that your extensive talents went as far back to the music of my high school days in the early 60’s. Bravo! Wishing you continued success in your new projects. | Lancaster, PA |

You are amazingly talented and alot of stars owe their success to the “sound” you helped them develop. What an exciting career and life you have. Is this something you actively sought and knew you always wanted to do or did you kind of “work into it”? Either way, you are a star in your own right. | Pennsylvania |
